'There is a mountain of pleasure to be had from this CD, named "South of the Alps" because the musicians, Ambra and Fiona Albek, come from the southern part of Switzerland. They are twin sisters, violin and piano, and perhaps it's the twinship that makes their palying so responsive in regard to expression and approach. Their program features music from Italy, France and Spain, some of it familiar (De Falla and Poulenc) and some of it new to me (Turina and Lucchetti). But all of the pieces are played with remarkable verve and lyricism.
